KENNESAW, Ga. (Jan. 24, 2013) — Kennesaw State University is proud to announce KSU Stadium will be hosting Georgia native Phillip Phillips, March 24, for a full concert. This will be a laid-back Sunday evening family concert appropriate for all ages.
The same day Phillips claimed his victory in American Idol’s season 11 finale, the 21-year-old singer/guitarist released “Home,” a debut single that showcases his rich, raspy vocals and masterful guitar skills — and marked the highest debut on the Billboard Digital songs chart to date. The song quickly became a global phenomenon and was used as the theme song for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team.
Phillips’ first full album was released in November 2012 and currently holds the #14 spot on the Billboard Charts.
“This album has more of a rock sound to it,” says Phillips, who counts Eric Clapton as one of his key influences. “The most important thing to me is making music that comes from my heart and really connects with people on a gut level.”
The KSU stadium will be scaled to an intimate setting to allow those in attendance to soak in the full experience. Tickets go on sale Monday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. and fans will be able to purchase one of three types of tickets including: lawn seating, standard fixed seating and premium fixed seating. Ticket prices will range from $25 to $30 and 10 luxury suites are available at $1,000 each. KSU students receive a $5 discount on all tickets.
Tickets are available at www.ticketalternative.com or at the KSU box office, which is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at KSU Stadium. The KSU Stadium box office can be reached at 770-794-7809.
“We are excited to present this show to the community,” said Marty Elliott, general manager of KSU Stadium. “Phillip Phillips is touring several college venues on this headlining tour, and we fully expect his date at Kennesaw State University to be a standout. We are going to make sure this is a great experience for the tour and the fans.”
Information related to opening artists will be released at a later date.
